THE REBIRTH: BECOMING JACKSON
From Steel to Spirit
Mixed Media on 1969 V8 MGB
Date
July 2025

This artwork began with a 1969 MG B, once displayed at the St. Louis Car Museum and reengineered by MG expert Ken Biermann into a V8-powered showpiece. Inspired by its transformation, artist Grimaldi sought to reflect its evolution through art.
The turning point came when Grimaldi discovered that Jackson Pollock’s Convergence measured exactly 155 inches - the same length as the MG. Moved by this cosmic alignment, he painted over 30 layers on the hood and trunk using Pollock’s palette, forming negative racing stripes. The doors feature a symbolic fusion of engine and place: the number “8” from the V8 engine floats above a seagull forming a “V” - a nod to the Hamptons, home to both Grimaldi and Pollock.
The piece was completed using colors from Pollock’s Number 8, uniting transformation, energy, and artistic legacy into one seamless, moving canvas.
